Patients with congenital ichthyosis are at an increased risk for onychomycosis, tinea corporis, verruca vulgaris, and tinea pedis when compared with those without congenital ichthyosis.

Patients with congenital ichthyosis (CI) may be at an increased risk for viral and fungal cutaneous infections relative to the general population, according to a study published in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology.

Previous research into the association between CI and cutaneous infections has been limited to case reports.
