Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides “a different kind of healing” to children with serious illnesses and their families through year-round programs celebrating the fun, friendship and spirit of childhood.
During week-long on-site camp sessions for children with serious illnesses aged 7 – 15 and their siblings, campers participate in traditional camp activities while receiving care from a significant, yet unobtrusive, medical presence.
A camp geared directly for children with harlequin ichthyosis is currently planned to open in Maryland.
When will camp open?
Our plan is to open with limited programming in 2025 and Family Weekends in 2026. Remodeling of our current site will begin soon.
Can my child come to camp?
We are working to create a clear outline of what illness groups will be served in this region. We will have more information for families about applications and involvement in the summer of 2025.
How can I stay up to date with the Maryland location?
Our website will have the most up to date information as we progress. You can find our Maryland page at https://www.holeinthewallgang.org/programs/maryland-location/
What is happening in Maryland now?
We are currently getting the site ready for renovation and planning out our 2025 schedule of programs. Work groups have been helping us move furniture, clean out spaces, and setting the stage for construction. We also have begun forming connections as we look for community partners to help us make the Maryland program a success.
What if my family is ready for camp now?
Our Hospital Outreach Program (HOP) is currently serving children in several locations in DC and Baltimore. HOP brings Camp-style games and activities to hospitals and clinics. Whether working bedside, in playrooms or outpatient clinic settings, our activities are specifically adapted for use in the medical setting. Send us an email if you would like more information on which clinics are currently served.
Additionally, while we set up the Maryland location, families still have to opportunity to apply for programing at our Ashford, Connecticut location. We know that it is a long drive up to Connecticut, and many families could use a boost closer to home. If you are looking for a program that can help your child, feel connected to others, I suggest looking into Team Impact. They are a wonderful program and work across the nation.
