FIRST's Board of Directors Meet in Philadelphia

The Foundation for Ichthyosis & Related Skin Types, Inc.™ Board of Directors gathered in Philadelphia over the weekend of November 5-6, 2011 to plan the 3 year strategic initiatives for 2012 to 2014. The Foundation’s previous 4-year strategic plan, from 2008 to 2011 included a comprehensive marketing plan, website redesign, a new database management system, a funding program for ichthyosis research, and implementation of the regional support network. The Board is very proud that these strategic initiatives have been implemented with great success.
Participants of the 16-member board flew in from locations across the country on Friday evening. The meeting took place on Saturday morning November 5, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at the Philadelphia Airport Marriot Hotel meeting rooms. Members dialogues with Robert Evans, of EHL Consulting, about fundraising and leadership priorities. Dr. Carrie Kovarik, from the University of Pennsylvania Health System talked about ways to maximize FIRST’s tele-ichthyosis website.

The business of the board meeting then focused on targeting a strategic plan for 2012 to 2014. Highlights of the plan will be announced in the future. The meeting concluded on Sunday morning, November 6. During the meeting, Board Vice President, Dr. Amy Paller was recognized for her 9 years of service to the Board. She was also nominated and approved for emeritus status on the Board of Directors when her term expires at the end of 2011.
FIRST’s Board of Directors is comprised of talented and committed medical professionals, parents or grandparents with affected family members, and individuals affected with ichthyosis who work diligently to assure that FIRST maintains the highest caliber programming and information for all of our members and their families.
