FIRST'S mission is to improve lives and seek cures for those affected with ichthyosis or a related skin type.
Ichthyosis is a family of genetic skin disorders. Ichthyosis is not contagious. It's caused by mutations in one of over 40 genes that affect the skin. There is no cure, only treatments. Ichthyosis affects more than one million Americans.
