Benefit Concert in Pennsylvania THIS WEEKEND
Date: 08/29/2012
Bailey Pretak and friends will present "Release the Butterfly" - a concert to benefit FIRST on
Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 7:00 pm
at the Johnsonburg High School Auditorium. A free-will offering will be taken. The concert will feature inspirational music by dancers and singers. All of the songs being performed were selected because the lyrics share messages about what it is like to live being "different."
Bailey was born with lamellar ichthyosis. FIRST has played an important role in educating her and her family, inspiring her to become all she can be, and connecting her with others affected with the disorder who offer support. This support is crucial because very few doctors understand the disorder or how to treat it. Much of what Bailey has learned about caring for her skin has been from others who have it. She wants to give back and inspire other kids, teens and families affected with this.
The term "Release the Butterfly" came from some literature available through FIRST during its infancy. A story was shared that some parents were concerned about their child being born with ichthyosis. The doctor told them to think of their child as a butterfly in a cocoon and that they must "release the butterfly."
The concert will showcase the talent of many area artists.
The dancers will be: Bailey Pretak of Wilcox; Claire Grazioli, Bry Harvey, Nicole Holland, Kaitlin Yankovich and Madison Yankovich of Ridgway; Jensine Coudriet, Kristin Dippold, Sophie Herzing, Rachel Keller, Elle McGowan, Maddie O'Leary and Kaitlin Quinn of St. Marys; Kaarina Hemdal, Sarri Swanson and Kate Undercoffer of Kane.
The singers will be: Tara Hart, Bailey Pretak and Tracie Pretak of Wilcox; Sami Ferragine and Nicole Rose of Johnsonburg; Haley Freeburg, Betty Schogren and Rene Smith of Ridgway; Maddie O'Leary and Kaitlin Quinn of St. Marys.
