Young Adults With Ichthyosis (YAWI)

Who is a YAWI?

A YAWI (Young Adult with Ichthyosis) is someone with ichthyosis between the ages of 18 – 30.  This is an important age as many life-altering decisions may be made during young adulthood. During these years you may be dealing with the highs and lows of leaving high school, moving on to college, finding your first job, dating, marriage and ultimately starting a family! So much going on – not too mention a little skin condition called ichthyosis. It is not easy and sometimes the support from others, who really know what you’re going through, can be a real life saver. That’s where YAWI comes in.

What is the Group?

This group will serve as a support network for all YAWI.  It’s YAWI helping YAWI – through the good times, the bad times, and all those in between. By joining the group you will be able to connect with other young adults with ichthyosis in a number of ways.

For example:

There’s plenty of opportunity to get involved, as much or as little as you choose. We look forward to hearing your ideas, questions, solutions - and all the facets of your life…as a YAWI.  Ultimately, the YAWI group will allow you to help others and be helped by others.

How Do I Get Involved?

The YAWI group is forming right now. Simply follow this link to the sign-up form and get in on the ground floor. You’ll receive a welcome e-mail from the chairperson of YAWI, shortly thereafter. (This database will serve as a central source of communication between YAWI. It will be a private list monitored by the YAWI Chairperson and YAWI Group leadership.  No one else will have access to this list.)
