Campbell, CA - September 2014 -  Eric and Suzanne Phelps of San Jose, California have long been staunch advocates for the Foundation for Ichthyosis & Related Skin Types (FIRST). Their precious son Dane, passed away in 2008 when he was just 3 1/2 years old. Dane was affected with an unknown type of ichthyosis in addition to other medical complications.

Eric and Suzanne have created an event that not only raises awareness about ichthyosis, but also furthers ichthyosis research. For the third year, the Phelps family is hosting Dane's Friends for FIRST Concert.  A variety concert featuring local talent will take place on September 7 at the Heritage Theater in Campbell, California.

The evening will begin with a silent auction and a raffle at 3:00, followed by dinner provided my MOJO Burger and then the concert will begin at 6:00.   Tickets for the event are $40 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under, which includes MOJO Burger and complimentary wine served during the silent auction.

Tickets are expected to sell out this year. Be sure to get yours as soon as possible.  Tickets can be purchased by phone by calling the Heritage Theater box office at 408.866.2700.

Past events have been very successful and this year's promises to be also!

According to FIRST, each year, more than 16,000 babies are born with some form of ichthyosis. And, of those, approximately 300 are born with a moderate to severe form. This disorder affects people of all ages, races, and gender. The disorder usually presents at birth, or within the first year, and continues to affect the patient throughout their lifetime.
